New York: day 591

**Top Things Of The Week**

Law of the week: Eagle feather law. It is quite fascinating. I suggest you take a look. (Apropos of this).

Leahfinnegan.com’s incoming search terms of the week: “head to toe catsuit;” “finnegans brain damage.”

Lede of the week: Before the Internet, a Russian dissident might have hoped to reach dozens of sympathetic readers with a mimeographed samizdat publication of forbidden material. (via)

New York: day 589

[Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz] Sharif just looked at me. “How can you get a text message that long on your telephone?”

“It’s an e-mail,” I said, slightly shocked that Sharif was unconcerned about what I had just said. “This is a BlackBerry phone. You can get e-mail on it.”

“Ah, e-mail,” he said. “I must look into this BlackBerry.”

New York: day 567

I recently went to California. It was great! California is really great at being a state. In many places there are palm trees and, sometimes, there is mist. And certain trees and shrubs look like the knuckles of Yubaba from Spirited Away. The best things I did in California were as follows: (1) Ate an entire chicken (with Jesse); (2) Visited with Mark Yudof; (3) (tie) Searched for John Yoo’s office/Walked up a hill to a rose garden.
